Third-Party Licenses — Advanced Tape Restorer

Each component below is used under its own license, and those terms govern that component. A copy of this notice ships with the application. Where a license requires source availability, the upstream project link is the canonical source.

Non-commercial engines — read before doing paid work.

CodeFormer, ProPainter and DMDNet are governed by non-commercial license terms set by their authors. They are not distributed with Advanced Tape Restorer — you install them yourself if you want them.

If you use them, their output may not be used in commercial work. The commercial-use rights granted by our EULA do not extend to output from these engines. Every other engine listed below permits commercial use.

DMDNet additionally ships disabled. Advanced Tape Restorer contains no DMDNet code and no DMDNet weights, never downloads them, and does not present DMDNet as a product feature. Enabling it requires an explicit opt-in and a copy of the upstream project that you obtain and install yourself — at which point you are exercising the non-commercial rights CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 grants you directly.

Attribution for the non-commercial engines

DMDNet — Xiaoming Li, Shiguang Shan, Wangmeng Zuo et al., Learning Dual Memory Dictionaries for Blind Face Restoration (TPAMI, 2022). Upstream: github.com/csxmli2016/DMDNet. Licensed CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. DMDNet was built on Apache-2.0 BasicSR and MIT KAIR; those licenses cover only BasicSR's and KAIR's own code and do not relicense DMDNet, its architecture or its weights. The accompanying CelebRef-HQ dataset is non-commercial research only and may not be redistributed.

CodeFormer and ProPainter — S-Lab, Nanyang Technological University, under the S-Lab License 1.0. Advanced Tape Restorer ships integration support only; you supply the upstream installation.

License obligations we observe

LGPL components (Qt/PySide6, FFmpeg, VapourSynth) are dynamically linked or invoked as separate processes, never statically linked into proprietary code. You may replace them with your own compatible builds.
GPL components (QTGMC, f3kdb, TComb/Bifrost, ZNEDI3) are user-installed VapourSynth plugins invoked through VapourSynth's own scripting interface as separate processes. They are not bundled into or linked against the application binary.
Attribution-required components are credited on this page and in the notice shipped with the application.
Non-commercial models are never redistributed by us and are clearly marked in the application before use.
