v6.1
The terms under which IDOCinTheBOX Creations LLC licenses Advanced Tape Restorer to you.
The short version. You buy one license and own it for the whole v6.x line. Install it on as many machines as you personally own, but only one person uses it at a time. Everything you produce with it is yours — we claim no rights over your restored video. Don't resell, share or reverse-engineer the software itself. Thirty-day money-back guarantee.
This End User License Agreement ("Agreement") is a legal contract between you (an individual or a single entity, "you") and IDOCinTheBOX Creations LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company ("we", "us", "our"). It governs your use of the Advanced Tape Restorer software, including its executables, model integration code, documentation and updates (the "Software").
By installing, activating or using the Software, you accept this Agreement. If you do not accept it, do not install or use the Software.
On payment of the applicable fee, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable (except as set out in section 4), worldwide, perpetual license to install and use the Software, subject to this Agreement.
You may:
You may not:
We claim no ownership and no license over the video, audio, images or project files you capture, process or produce with the Software. Output you create is yours to use, distribute, broadcast and monetize without restriction from us and without royalty or attribution.
You are responsible for holding the necessary rights in the material you process.
You may permanently transfer your license to another person, provided you transfer it in its entirety, retain no copies, and the recipient agrees to this Agreement. Notify us at [email protected] so we can reassign the license record. A license may not be split across multiple people.
The Software validates your license key with our payment provider, and supports offline validation for periods without connectivity. Details of exactly what is transmitted are in the Privacy Policy.
We may revoke a license that was obtained fraudulently, charged back, refunded, or used in breach of section 2. Revocation disables the licensed features; it does not affect output you have already produced.
Your license covers all v6.x releases, including new AI engines added during the v6.x lifecycle, at no additional cost. Future major versions (v7.0 and beyond) may be offered as separate paid upgrades. We are not obliged to release any particular update or to maintain any particular feature indefinitely.
The Software incorporates and interoperates with open-source components — including VapourSynth, FFmpeg, Qt, and a range of AI model implementations — each licensed under its own terms. Those terms govern those components and, where they conflict with this Agreement in respect of that component, they prevail. A full listing is published at Third-Party Licenses and shipped with the application.
Earlier core components (v4.0 core, GUI and capture modules) are made available under the MIT License. The AI restoration components introduced in v4.1 and later are proprietary and licensed only under this Agreement.
Important. Certain engines are subject to non-commercial license terms set by their authors — CodeFormer and ProPainter under the S-Lab License 1.0, and DMDNet under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. These are not distributed with the Software; you install them yourself if you want them. If you use them, you must comply with their non-commercial terms, which means you may not use their output in commercial work. Your commercial-use rights under section 2 do not extend to output produced by these engines. Responsibility for that compliance rests with you.
Some engines require model files or third-party SDKs that are downloaded separately or installed by you. Their licensors' terms apply to those files. We do not warrant the availability of any third-party download source.
Purchases are processed by Gumroad as merchant of record. We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee: if the Software does not work for you, request a refund within 30 days of purchase and we will refund it. On refund, your license terminates and you must uninstall the Software.
Nothing here limits any statutory refund or cancellation right you have as a consumer under the law of your country of residence.
The Software is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Software will be uninterrupted or error-free, that it will work with any particular capture hardware or tape condition, or that any specific restoration result will be achieved.
Back up your source material. Video restoration is inherently destructive-by-default work on irreplaceable media. Always retain your original captures and tapes. We are not responsible for lost, damaged or overwritten footage.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, footage, profits, revenue or goodwill, arising from or related to the Software, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability under this Agreement is limited to the amount you actually paid for the license.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities. Where that is the case, the above applies to the fullest extent permitted, and nothing in this Agreement excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
This Agreement runs from your first installation until terminated. It terminates automatically if you materially breach it — in particular section 2. On termination you must stop using and uninstall the Software. Sections 3, 9, 10 and 13 survive termination.
You must comply with all applicable export-control and sanctions laws, and you may not use the Software where prohibited by law. You are responsible for using the Software lawfully, including in respect of any material you capture or process.
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts located in North Carolina have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you retain the benefit of any mandatory protections and any right to bring proceedings in the courts of your own country of residence.
This Agreement, together with the Privacy Policy and Third-Party Licenses, is the entire agreement between us regarding the Software. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. We may publish revised terms for future versions; the terms you accepted continue to govern the version you licensed.
